A warm and comforting matcha latte to get your morning on the right track
A warm and comforting matcha latte to get your morning on the right track.
This simple recipe for a matcha latte will become your new morning addiction. You’ll get an energy boost from matcha’s caffeine that will last for hours, but because matcha also contains L-theanine, the caffeine is balanced out and you won’t get the caffeine crash that typically comes with drinking coffee. (A cup of coffee and a cup of matcha tea have about the same amount of caffeine, so you’re not missing out on anything!)
This recipe is also ketogenic and AIP friendly, and you can keep it paleo by using coconut milk instead of regular milk, and choosing to sweeten with honey.
According to the 8th century Zen priest Eisai, matcha is the “ultimate mental and medical remedy and has the ability to make one’s life more full and complete”.
Why is this? Matcha is beloved for being super high in antioxidants, including polyphenols and EGCG. Polyphenols play an important role in preventing and in reducing the progression of illnesses such as diabetes, cancer, and neurodegenerative and cardiovascular diseases. EGCG also helps prevent diabetes and cancer, as well as arthritis and heart disease. It aids in weight loss and anti-aging as well.
Matcha green tea powder is a strong detoxifier which rids your body of heavy metals and chemical toxins; it’s an immune system booster; it’s high in soluble and insoluble fiber; it lowers bad cholesterol; it’s a natural anti-inflammatory, and it has antibiotic properties.
And because matcha powder is ground from the entire tea leaf, you’re getting ALL of these amazing benefits when you drink it.
Wow. Such an amazing superfood! And besides all this, matcha helps keep your mind focused, sharp, and alert—while also relaxing you.
So try this incredible matcha green tea latte out for your morning routine. You’ll love it!
