Make Dinner Memorable with Matcha Green Tea Gnocchi

The best part? Green tea gnocchi is easier than it looks to make. So whether you’re looking for something new for dinner or a quick and easy recipe that will impress a few dinner guests, this gnocchi is a delicious life-saver.

Not only is this matcha green tea recipe quick and easy, it dresses well with just about any marinade under the sun. Luckily for you, we’ve provided a quick and easy orange-ginger butter to glaze over your green tea gnocchi.

Matcha Green Tea Gnocchi

For the gnocchi:

  • 1lb milled or finely grated peeled, baked Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 1/2 cup of flour, plus another ½ cup for dusting
  • 1 egg, whipped
  • 1 tablespoon Epic Matcha green tea powder plus 1 tbsp for dusting
  • A pinch of salt

*Finer salts work best in this recipe.

For the orange and ginger butter:

  • 6 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon of finely grated ginger
  • ½ of a orange, juiced

For the gnocchi:

  1. Bake potatoes until they’re soft.
  2. Remove the potatoes from the oven and cut them in half to release the steam.
  3. Once you can touch them, peel the potato skins and grate them.
  4. Allow the potatoes to cool.
  5. Bring a small pot of water to boil.
  6. Make a hole in the potatoes and add your whipped egg. Stir into the potatoes gently, making sure you don’t crush the potatoes.
  7. Combine flour and matcha and sift over the gnocchi, fluffing the potatoes with a fork.
  8. Remove the gnocchi, divide them into quarters, and roll them into cigars. I suggest making sure your knife is sharp.
  9. Boil in a pot of boiling water. Add a pinch of salt.
  10. When they float, they’re ready.

Note: Be careful not to overcook the gnocchi or they will fall apart. Alternatively, if you’d like to use oil to flash-fry them, the result is an amazing crisp on a light and refreshing pasta meal

For the orange and ginger butter:

  1. Melt butter in a small saucepan on medium heat.
  2. Add the ginger and cook until the grated bits are aromatic.
  3. Add the orange juice and cook for a minute or two, carefully stirring.

To make a quick stir-fry, sautee some squash or zucchini in a saucepan and stir them in with the gnocchi. If the marinade is less than enticing to you, try dicing some tomatoes and warming them in a small sauce pan. The sweet taste will pair perfectly with the gnocchi, while allowing the space to experiment with herbs and spices.

Not only is this matcha green tea recipe quick and easy, it dresses well with just about any marinade under the sun. Try doubling this recipe and freezing the remaining green tea gnocchi. Reheat in the microwave or allow to thaw in the fridge while you’re at work.
