High Tea Matcha Scones Recipe

    Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup frozen butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon Epic Matcha green tea powder
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 tablespoon lime zest
  • 1/4 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    Directions
  1. Prepare a baking sheet by lining with parchment paper
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  3. Add flour, sugar, matcha, baking powder, salt and baking soda into a large bowl.
  4. Whisk to combine until all ingredients are evenly dispersed.
  5. Use a cheese grater to grate the butter into the dry ingredients and mix.
  6. Add half of the lemon, lime and orange zest.
  7. Work the butter and zest into the dry ingredients with your hands until the butter and zest is evenly combined with the dry ingredients.
  8. In a smaller bowl combine sour cream and the egg. Whisk.
  9. Stir egg mixture into the flour until large clumps begin to form.
  10. Use your hands to knead the dough in the bowl to form a ball.
  11. Flour your work surface and transfer the dough to the floured surface.
  12. Roll out the dough until it is about 3/4 inch thick.
  13. Sprinkle with remaining zest as well as a little sugar.
  14. Cut into triangles and place onto the baking sheet.
  15. Place onto the second to lowest rack in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden.
  16. Allow to cool before serving.
