Scrumptious cinnamon bun flavor in a healthy matcha smoothie, with notes of banana and vanilla.
Cinnamon buns are sent straight from heaven. We all know this. But if you decide to indulge in those big doughballs that have butter and sugar syrup all over the top, your body will probably hate you.
Instead of eating a cinnamon bun and feeling terrible, treat yourself to something just as delicious that your body will approve of: a cinnamon bun matcha smoothie!
One of our yummiest recipes, this cinnamon bun matcha smoothie is bursting with flavor and is filled with healthy goodies, including your daily dose of greens (thanks to the spinach), strength and energy from the oats, fiber from the Medjool dates, potassium from the bananas, and the many, many health benefits that come with using matcha green tea powder.
The one teaspoon of matcha green tea powder is small, but mighty. Matcha tea is actually the entire green tea leaf, steamed, dried, and pulverized into a powder that’s extremely easy to add to recipes—which is great, because it’s a nutritional powerhouse. And because it’s ground into powder, you get every bit of those nutrients.
So what exactly is in this matcha? For starters, lots of energy. Matcha powder wakes you up and keeps you going for hours, but without an “edgy” feeling. The L-theanine in it balances out the caffeine so that you’re not only alert and energized, but also calm and relaxed. The “alert calm” feeling that is associated with matcha is one of its biggest benefits.
Matcha tea powder also helps your body burn calories four times faster than normal, and ignites your metabolism. It battles free radicals that try to make your skin look older, and it also improves your teeth and gums.
Besides all this, matcha has also been linked to protection against health problems such as diabetes, stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, heart problems, and even cancer.
This cinnamon bun matcha smoothie works for many occasions. Have a friend coming over? Treat them! In need of an eye-opening breakfast? Treat yourself! Simply want a satisfying midday smoothie? Go ahead, try this out!
